Beautiful Limoges luncheon set, cup and matching biscuit tray. Hand painted with what appears to one of the Victorians' most favorite flowers, delicate and much adored pink phlox. Both the cup and tray are richly gilded with Roman coin gold, and the nineteenth century artist has embellished the phlox with raised white enamel. The tray has a well for the gold handled cup and it also features a gold handle. The tray measures 8 1/2 inches in length and 7 inches wide. The matching cup is almost 2 inches tall with a rim diameter of almost 3 3/4 inches. Both pieces are marked GDA France, (Gerard, Dufraisseix, and Abbot, Limoges, France). This mark was used from 1900 up until 1941. We date this set to the early 1900's, when these elegant luncheon sets were so popular for formal teas and brunches. With the exception of a few light scratches, this exquisite biscuit tea set is in excellent condition with no damage.
